The Digital Media Service (DMS) is a partnership between the Office of Research and Information Technology (ORIT) and the UT Libraries. DMS provides a full range of digitization services to faculty, staff, and departments at UT. Core services include conversion of analog and paper based materials into electronic text, digital images, streaming audio or streaming video. CD/DVD duplication, webcasting, copyright clearance assistance, and referrals to related media or technology services are also available at DMS. Once materials are converted to a digital format, the files are hosted on a DMS server and made available to students and faculty via the Internet. Faculty members are provided with URLs that link to their digitized media. These links can be added to class BlackBoard pages or published on the faculty member's web page. Services for instructional materials are provided at no cost to faculty members. Digitization and storage of media for non-instructional uses are available to UT faculty, departments, and staff at competitive rates. The long-range goal of DMS is to provide a single point of service for all current and future digitization needs of the university. For more information please contact DMS at 974-8076 or by emailing digitalmedia@utk.edu.
